INTERVIEW WITH THE SCHOOL PROPRIETOR BY THE SCHOOL PRESS CLUB TEAM

This was the interview that was conducted by the press club of this great school, Achievers international schools. Read it and you will certainly learn things from it.

Good afternoon Sir. We are from Achievers international schools press club, and my name is Oluwadarasimi Adeleke and with me here is Idowu Oluwafemi and also Ewaoluwa Adeleke.

Press:  Can we meet you Sir?

Ans: My name is Adeleke Babatunde Olumuyiwa

Press: What brought about Achievers international school?

Ans: Achievers international school is a vision directly from God. It is God that gave the vision to us and we are most grateful to him for bringing the vision to accomplishment.

Press: Thank you sir. So what is your aim of establishing this great school?

Ans: My aim or would i say our aim originated from our past, what we passed through in our academic career. We discovered that there are many potentials that need to have been sharpened and shaped through quality education but due to the level of most parents and what they passed through and not exempting the financial status of most parents to send there wards to school, it has become a great hurdle in the way of this children. So the desire came to establish and set up a school for the less privileged, although it is not going to be for charity but it is going to be made in a way that would be convenient for both privileged and the less privileged. To give them the benefits of going to a private school where there would be proper monitoring and quality teaching because i could remember when i was young, there  were private schools in existence then but due to the financial status of my parents, i was not privileged to attend a private school. Though most of my sets passed through the walls of private school, i was not opportune to attend. So one of the vision is to set up a citadel that would be beneficial for the privileged and the less privileged ones so as to raise them through proper monitoring, guidance and through our rich school activities to become great people in the future.

Press: That is really touching sir, having said all this, was there any challenges?

Ans: (Smiles) There was so many challenges. Let me pick it up from the beginning. When we started, we had a lot of challenges, one of it is the financial aspect which wanted to stand as an hinderance it was very tough and the road was so rough but with the help of God, we scaled through. Another challenge is that there were some established schools around us as at the time we were starting. It wanted to discourage me from forging ahead as i was scared then of competition. But the spirit ministered to me that this is a vision that must come to accomplishment and that motivated me. So i kept on without relenting and i bless the name of God for where we are today. Another challenge is the challenge we got from parents. Because of the local environment we find ourselves, the parents where not so encouraging then. The zeal we had was that we are going to make sure our students have good and solid background but maybe because of the level of knowledge of the parents, they were not helping matters. And the student we registered first gave us much work because most of them came out of "not so educated" background and they don't value education but by the grace of God after the work was began in them, even the parents and people around were greatly encouraged, and the success recorded announced the school which in return prompted majority to bring there wards to us. The government also gave us a big challenge during registration process and to get approval because along the line, they came, stipulated things for us to do but we thank God that saw us through all the process and today, the school is one of the best if not the best in our environment and it is recognised in the state.

Press: Thank you sir. Please can you tell us your view about life?

Ans: My view about life is that with focus and strong determination, you can achieve your aim. Nothing must stand as a barrier or hinderance. And you should have a strong vision and follow it up. You should not allow the many storms of life to weigh you down and even when things around you is not encouraging you, you must stay focused so that you won't end up becoming a victim of the unfairness of life.

Press: Thank you sir. What level do you wish this great citadel of learning reach?

Ans: The level we want it to reach is great. We are hoping that very soon, we will start embarking on foreign excursions because i strongly believe that with God on our side, we will attain that great height we are hoping to get to. It is not a school that is only after making money but to raise future champions and great leaders of the nearest future. We want to be a builder that builds them and not a bulldozer that brings them down. We are hoping that in the future, great people should be able to make mention of Achievers international schools as a school that has moulded them in a positive way. And having an established alumnus. It won't be a school that would reign for some time and dies down. It would be a school that is developing everyday, new things and innovations should always happen on a daily basis. It should not be stagnant. And it would be heard of all over the nations that is why it is called international. we are hoping to have different branches in every nations. We believe that with God on our sides, all this and many more would be accomplished.

Press: And we say a big Amen to that. Sir, so far so good is there any achievements you wish to share with us?

Ans: Yes, there are lots of achievement. According to the name, Achievers, i can tell you that name came through a vision. We submitted three (3) names to the ministry of education and this name which was more on our hearts was confirmed. After two years of establishment, we got landed property and after two years also, our pupils was matched into the place. So i can say that after four years of establishment, we are fully at our permanent site and we got more landed property and presently we are building structures on it. pictures of the site are here:

Also, we are hoping to have our own boarding school. We also have excellent transportation facilities as we have buses click here to view our buses and we have very qualified teachers and we are having good results from those passing out from the school. The last results was outstanding as our pupils had distinctions in there external exams. We have also honoured external quiz and debate competitions and our students performed excellently. That is a few from the numerous achievement we had.

Press: Wow! that is very great sir. So how can you rate the performance of your students?

Ans: The performance of our student is very great and encouraging and i can guarantee that our students can be conveniently rated 80% academically.

Press: That is a good score. This is  a very bothering question Sir. With your experience so far, what can you say about the decay in education sector?

Ans: The problem is in diverse ways. The government are part of those that cause the decay because the process of admitting teachers is not too encouraging. Teachers need to be well assessed very well before they can be admitted into the system. But i have come to discover that the mode of employment most times is always due to the need of the proposed teacher having a job compulsorily and he/she is compensated with employment and it could also be through connections prompting poor assessment of the teacher. Another one is poor payment of teacher's salary, this also affect a lot when the teacher's are not paid there salaries on time, this could lead to general strike of teachers and poor discharge of duty from there ends. Not supervising the teachers could also be a problem. When they are not adequately checked to see how they are discharging there duties. Also seminars should be organised from time to time to increase the knowledge of the teachers and also prepare them for new challenge that lies ahead. And i have come to discover that funds pumped into education sector by government is not in anyway encouraging.  Some parents can also be held responsible for the decay has many of them don't value education. Parents should supervise there children and should not leave it to the teachers alone as there is this popular saying that charity begins at home. There are some schools that are not so encouraging also. They contribute to the decay as most of them are only after money and they also employ unqualified staffs and they also don't have a good school program and activities for there students. This and many more cause decay to the education sector.

Press: What can be done to this?

Ans: This can be curbed if we can make education a paramount aspect in the nation. And this can be done by visiting the foundation (nursery & primary) has this is where students are made, it is what have been invested in them at this stage that they build on. If government can invest more in this level, things would be better. I have observed that government are backing out and leaving it to the private schools. And they should bring up a scheme that looks into employment of teachers. Unqualified teachers must not be employed and they should see to which class a teachers ability fits before fixing him/her into a class. Salaries should be paid on time and seminars should be organised. Schools on there parts should have good program and make more research and also try to improve things so that there students will meet up to the standard of there colleagues in other states. There are some states like Abuja, Portharcourt and Lagos where they are doing fine educationally, schools should bring up there students to a standard that they will not look inferior to there mates and colleagues even in the nearest future. Parents also should not allow what they are passing through to deprive there children from going to a good school. So the parents should be encouraged and they should encourage there children too.

Press: Thank you sir. How important is education?

Ans: Education is very important as it is a means of going out of our ignorance. Without good education, a person is in darkness. Education shifts us from a state of illiteracy to being a literate. Education will give you life and future. It will give you hope that you can make it and it shows the level of your operation in life. Without education, there is limitation. Education is life.

Press: What is your general advice to all students and also to parents?

Ans: General advise to students is that they should be very serious with there studies. They should take it as a friend and let it be a part of them. They must be very focused and determined. And they should also set good goals and work very hard to achieve there set goals. For the parents, they must be ready to support there children financially, morally and in every aspects.

Press: Thanks so much Sir for your time. God bless you Sir

Ans: Amen. You are welcome.
